Today’s offering is a W&B that I have been pretty reluctant to give up. It is a W&B hollow ground razor that the scales were shot on. So I threw on some nice thin cocobolo scales for replacements. This was the 1st set that I made that were super thin, and they work really well with this razor.
The spacer/wedge is blue ABS plastic with a brass liner on either side. Nothing for purpose other than aesthetics. The blue and brass really pop the colors of the wood. Pins are brass.
Took this back to the hones last night just for a touch up. Laid hairs down on the arm like they were at a Beatles concert in the 50’s. Just downright sharp. To take a quote from Toxic, it ’smells sharp.’
This blade is at 11/16+. The maker stamp is a bit worn down. the restoration on this was extensive on the tang, more so than the blade itself. There is a double set of pivot washers on both sides of the tang as well. This blade has a natural bend at the point where the tang and blade meet. This is a common issue that occured in the manufacturing process. The double washer helps this issue to more center the blade.
